Zafirlukast (Accolate®) is a prescription drug licensed for preventing asthma attacks. It is approved for adults and children as young as five years old. By blocking leukotrienes (chemicals produced by the body in response to allergens), the medication can help improve breathing and reduce nighttime and daytime asthma symptoms. Zafirlukast comes in tablet form and is available in two different strengths.
