Xopenex® (levalbuterol hydrochloride) is a prescription medication licensed for the treatment or prevention of airway spasms. By decreasing inflammation and opening up the airways, the drug can help relieve airway spasms in people who have asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Xopenex comes in a liquid form that is used in a nebulizer. Potential side effects include viral infections, shakiness, and nervousness.
