Xopenex Drug Interactions

When you take certain medications while you are also using Xopenex, drug interactions may occur. Medicines that may cause a potentially negative interaction include beta blockers, certain diuretics, digoxin, MAOIs, or tricyclic antidepressants. Xopenex drug interactions can decrease the effectiveness of the medicines and may lead to side effects, including low potassium levels, dangerously low blood pressure, or an irregular heart rhythm.

 

An Overview of Xopenex Drug Interactions

Xopenex® (levalbuterol hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Xopenex drug interactions include:
 
  • Beta blockers, such as:
o Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
o Nadolol (Corgard®)
o Sotalol (Betapace®)
o Timolol (Blocadren®)
  • Certain diuretics, such as:
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
