Ventolin HFA® (albuterol inhaler) is a prescription drug approved for preventing or treating airway spasms. It can also be used to prevent exercise-induced asthma attacks. The drug works by decreasing inflammation and opening up the airways. It comes in a metered-dose inhaler that can either be used only when needed during an asthma attack or regularly to prevent asthma attacks.
