Ventolin HFA® (albuterol inhaler) is a prescription medication licensed to prevent or treat airway spasms in people with asthma. Taking the drug 30 minutes before exercise has also been shown to be effective in preventing exercised-induced asthma attacks. Ventolin comes in a metered-dose inhaler that is either used on a regular basis to prevent asthma attacks or only during an asthma attack.
