Symbicort Inhaler

Symbicort^® (budesonide and formoterol) is a prescription medication used to treat asthma and COPD. It is used for preventing asthma attacks rather than treating them once they occur. The medicine comes in an inhaler and is approved for use in both adults and children.

 

The Symbicort inhaler is a combination product that contains a beta agonist, which stimulates the muscles around airways, and an inhaled steroid, which decreases inflammation in the airways. The medication is inhaled into the lungs, usually twice daily, with about 12 hours between doses.

 

Although most people tolerate this medication well, you should talk to your healthcare provider before using the Symbicort inhaler if you have high blood pressure, are pregnant, or have never had chickenpox or the measles (or have not been vaccinated against them).
