Symbicort® is a prescription medicine that is used for treating asthma in adults and children over the age of 12. The combination drug works by reducing inflammation and opening up the airways to allow more air to get into and through the lungs. The Symbicort inhaler is used to prevent asthma attacks, not treat them. Potential side effects of the medication include sore throat, headache, and irritated or runny nose.

(Click Symbicort for more information about the two drug components in Symbicort, the effects of the medication, and when and how to take it.)
