Symbicort® (budesonide and formoterol) is used for treating asthma. It is a combination medication that works by reducing inflammation and opening up the airways. Symbicort is available by prescription only and comes in a metered-dose inhaler that is typically used twice daily. While most people tolerate the drug well, potential side effects include upper respiratory tract infection, irritated or runny nose, headaches, and throat pain.
