Qvar 80 mcg Inhaler

If you have asthma, your healthcare provider may prescribe Qvar® (beclomethasone inhaler) to help prevent asthma attacks. The medication comes in a metered-dose inhaler and is available in two strengths, including:
 
  • Qvar 40 mcg inhaler, containing 100 inhalations with 40 mcg per inhalation
  • Qvar 80 mcg inhaler, containing 100 inhalations with 80 mcg per inhalation.
     
The recommended starting Qvar dosage for children ages 5 to 11 is 40 mcg twice daily. For adults and adolescents 12 years and older, the recommended dose varies, depending on what asthma medications were previously taken.
 
The usual starting dose for people taking an inhaled steroid (with or without a bronchodilator) is 40 to 160 mcg twice daily. For people taking bronchodilators alone, the recommended starting dose is Qvar 40 to 80 mcg twice daily.
