Qvar 40 mcg Inhaler

Qvar® (beclomethasone inhaler) is an asthma medication used for preventing asthma attacks rather than treating them once they occur. It is available by prescription only and comes in a metered-dose inhaler that is available in two strengths, including:

  • Qvar 40 mcg inhaler, containing 100 inhalations with 40 mcg per inhalation
  • Qvar 80 mcg inhaler, containing 100 inhalations with 80 mcg per inhalation.

Children ages 5 to 11 typically use the Qvar 40 mg inhaler, starting with one inhalation twice daily. For asthma treatment in adults and adolescents age 12 and older, the recommended Qvar dosage varies, depending on what type of asthma medications were previously taken, including bronchodilators and other inhaled steroids.

(Click Qvar Dosage for more detailed dosing guidelines for adults and children over the age of 12 and to find out exactly how to use the inhaler properly.)
