Pulmicort Use in Children

The Pulmicort Flexhaler is approved for asthma in children six years of age and older. Pulmicort Respules are approved for children from 12 months to 8 years old. Young children usually require help using Pulmicort correctly. Be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about the best ways to treat childhood asthma. Inhaled steroids, such as Pulmicort, may slightly slow the growth of children or teenagers.

Off-Label Pulmicort Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Pulmicort for something other than preventing asthma attacks. At this time, using Pulmicort to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an off-label use of Pulmicort.
