Pulmicort Side Effects

Pulmicort Side Effects to Report

Some side effects with Pulmicort are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:

  • Worsening of asthma
  • Frequent or severe infections of any type
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including:

    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling.

Less Common Side Effects

Rare Pulmicort side effects occur in 1 to 3 percent of people taking the drug. Because these side effects are so uncommon, it is difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by the medicine or by factors unrelated to it.

Some of these less common side effects include but are not limited to:

  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue
  • Voice changes
  • Loss of appetite
  • Emotional changes
  • Muscle pain
  • Dry mouth
  • Weight gain
  • Migraine headaches
  • Insomnia.

Final Thoughts on Side Effects Seen With Pulmicort

You may experience some or none of the Pulmicort side effects explained in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while taking the drug.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be related to Pulmicort, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
