Pulmicort^® (budesonide inhalation) is a medication approved for the prevention of asthma attacks. It is available by prescription only and comes in two forms.

Pulmicort Respules^® contain a liquid form of Pulmicort that is used in a nebulizer (a device that changes liquid medications into fine droplets that are inhaled into the lungs). It is generally used once or twice a day.

Pulmicort Flexhaler^® contains a dry powder that is inhaled using the force of your breath. It is a special kind of inhaler that is used twice a day, every day.

Although most people tolerate this medication well, side effects are possible. Some of the most common side effects that have been reported with Pulmicort Respules and the Pulmicort Flexhaler include viral infections, coughing, thrush, and a sore throat and an irritated or runny nose.
