Pulmicort Indications

Pulmicort® (budesonide inhalation) is a prescription asthma medication. It comes in two forms: the Pulmicort Flexhaler® (a special kind of inhaler) and Pulmicort Respules® (which are inhaled using a nebulizer).

Pulmicort indications primarily include the prevention of asthma attacks. However, the medicine may also occasionally be used "off-label" for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The medication is a type of inhaled steroid that works by decreasing inflammation in the airways.

The Pulmicort Flexhaler is approved for asthma in children six years of age and older, while Pulmicort Respules can be used in children ages 12 months to 8 years old.
