Proair HFA Drug Interactions

If you take certain medications while you are also using Proair HFA, drug interactions may occur. Some of the medications that may cause interactions with Proair HFA include beta blockers, certain diuretics, digoxin, MAOIs, and tricyclic antidepressants. Proair HFA drug interactions can decrease the effectiveness of some medicines and potentially lead to, or increase the risk of, side effects. These side effects can include low potassium levels, dangerously low blood pressure, or irregular heart rhythms.

 

An Overview of Proair HFA Drug Interactions

Proair HFA® (albuterol inhaler) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to Proair HFA interactions include:
 
  • Beta blockers, such as:

 

 

  • Certain diuretics, such as:

 

 

  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
