Asthma Home > Pulmicort 180 mcg Flexhaler

Pulmicort® (budesonide inhalation) is an asthma medication often prescribed for the prevention of asthma attacks. It is approved for use in both adults and children.
The medicine comes in two different forms and strengths, including:
  • Pulmicort 90 mcg Flexhaler® (containing 60 inhalations, with 90 mcg per inhalation)
  • Pulmicort 180 mcg Flexhaler® (containing 120 inhalations, with 180 mcg per inhalation)
  • Pulmicort Respules® 0.25 mg per 2 mL vial
  • Pulmicort Respules® 0.5 mg per 2 mL vial.
The recommended starting dosage for adults with asthma is two inhalations of Pulmicort 180 mcg Flexhaler twice a day. For children six years old and older, the recommended Pulmicort dose is Pulmicort 180 mcg Flexhaler twice daily.
For asthma treatment in children age 12 months to 6 years old, Pulmicort dosing will vary depending on what type of asthma medication was previously taken. The recommended Pulmicort doses range from 0.25 mg once daily to 0.5 mg twice daily (or 1 mg once daily).
