Asthma Home > Advair 230/21

The 230/21 strength of Advair® (fluticasone and salmeterol) is the strongest dosage available for this form of the medication. It contains 120 inhalations with 230 mcg fluticasone and 21 mcg salmeterol per inhalation. This medication comes in a traditional, metered-dose inhaler, known as the Advair HFA inhaler. The medication is inhaled using the inhaler (typically twice a day, with about 12 hours between doses).
The Advair HFA inhaler is only approved for preventing airway spasms in people who have asthma (it is not approved for treating people who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD).
The recommended dose for asthma depends on the dose of other asthma medications taken in the past, varying from two inhalations of 45/21 twice daily to two inhalations of the 230/21 twice daily.
(Click Advair Dosage for more information on how Advair can be beneficial in preventing asthma attacks, general dosing guidelines, and tips on using this inhaler.)
