Drug Interactions With Formoterol

If you take certain medications while using formoterol, drug interactions may occur. Some of the medications that can interact with the drug include beta blockers, certain diuretics, digoxin, MAOIs, and tricyclic antidepressants. Drug interactions with formoterol can decrease the effectiveness of some medicines and may lead to side effects, such as low potassium levels, dangerously low blood pressure, or irregular heart rhythms.

 

Drug Interactions With Formoterol: An Overview

Formoterol fumarate (Foradil®) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with formoterol include:
 
  • Beta blockers, such as:
o Bisoprolol (Zebeta®)
o Nadolol (Corgard®)
o Sotalol (Betapace®)
o Timolol (Blocadren®)
  • Certain diuretics, such as:
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
