Flovent
® HFA (fluticasone HFA) is a prescription
asthma medication that comes in an environmentally friendly inhaler. It is used to prevent
asthma attacks, not to treat them once they occur.
The
Flovent HFA inhaler comes in three different strengths and is typically used twice a day, every day. Inhaled steroids go directly into the lungs and help to decrease the inflammation of airways that makes
asthma attacks more likely. In studies, people already taking oral steroids were also able to decrease or eliminate their oral steroid when they began taking Flovent.
You should talk to your healthcare provider before using the Flovent HFA inhaler if you have
tuberculosis, herpes, or other infections; have never had
chickenpox or the
measles (and have not been vaccinated against these conditions); or have eczema.
