Drug Interactions With Budesonide Inhalation

When you take certain medications while you are also using budesonide inhalation, drug interactions may occur. Medicines that may cause an interaction include certain antibiotics, some antifungals, and protease inhibitors. Because drug interactions with Budesonide inhalation can increase the amount of budesonide inhalation in your blood and increase your risk of side effects, you should ask your healthcare provider about any interactions that may apply to you.

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Budesonide Inhalation

Budesonide inhalation (Pulmicort®) can potentially interact with some other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to budesonide inhalation interactions include:
 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
o Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
o Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
o Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
o Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
o Miconazole
o Telithromycin (Ketek®) 
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
o Ritonavir (Norvir®).
